Peterbilt offers green products, new suspension, nav system and more

Bill Jackson, vice president, PACCAR and Peterbilt general manager, outlined a number of technical advancements yesterday during the company’s annual press conference at MATS this week. Citing industry interest in green technology and the push toward alternative fueled vehicles, no idle technology and hybrid trucks, Peterbilt is poised to offer great solutions. In addition, the company said it is introducing a proprietary front air leaf suspension, an in-dash navigation system and talked out its new proprietary engine facility, which will be ready to ship engines upon its completion in 2009.

Despite their associated cost and hassles, the Environmental Protection Agency’s 2007 emissions regulations will, one day, be considered a boon to the trucking industry because they ushered in a host of new heavy-duty truck models that might have otherwise remained mere engineering drawings, at least for a few more years.
