Eaton’s hybrid electric power systems are now available for Navistar’s IC Bus brand school buses. The IC Bus CE Series hybrid electric school bus with hill start assist can provide school districts with up to a 30% improvement in fuel economy, up to 35% reduction of NOx emissions and up to 85% reduction of diesel particulates.

Dana introduces service-free U-joints for SPL driveshafts

The new service-free universal-joints added to the company’s heavy-duty Spicer Life Series driveshafts deliver a permanently lubricated driveline that reduces maintenance costs over the life of the product. The new SPL-250 and SPL-170 models have been designed for main and tandem drive inter-axle driveshaft applications for a variety of Class 8 heavy-duty truck applications.

Dana completes upgrades to Spicer Life Series driveshafts

The company said it has now upgraded the performance and durability features of its entire lineup of SPL heavy-duty universal joints. the new SPL-170 universal joint assembly features a bearing package that includes larger needle bearings for increased capacity, a special Viton synthetic seal for improved grease retention and serviceability, and a thermoplastic seal guard to exclude contaminants.

Eaton launches aftermarket-specific drivetrain components

The new lineup of EverTough products, initially a new line of heavy-duty clutches, has been engineered specifically for the aftermarket to provide customers with the optimum balance of price and performance to meet their replacement part needs. They feature an aftermarket-specific facing, a release system with standard dual zerk fittings, and dampeners to meet the torsional vibration needs of the aftermarket.

ArvinMeritor expands MXL driveline for the aftermarket

The Meritor Extended Lube, designed for truck operators who want reduced maintenance costs and a longer warranty, features 100,000-mile lubrication intervals and a three-year, 300,000-mile warranty in linehaul service. The series of greaseable drivelines was introduced as an original equipment component in March 2009.

Jasper adds reverse servo cover support plate for Ford transmissions

Jasper Engines & Transmissions has updated the reverse servo of Ford 4R55E/5R55E transmissions produced between 1995 and 2008 to correct loss of reverse. The transmissions affected are found in the Ford Ranger Pickup, Explorer SUV and Aerostar Minivan.

Eaton hybrid systems have saved 4 million gallons of fuel

Customers of Eaton Corp.’s hybrid systems have collectively accumulated more than 100 million miles of service, reducing fuel consumption by 4 million gallons of diesel fuel and harmful emissions by 40,000 metric tons. More than 4,500 of Eaton’s hybrid systems are in use today.
