Mack Trucks Inc. introduced the TerraPro Cabover model, which is an evolution of the company’s MR model. It is optimized for refuse and construction applications, including concrete pumping.  It combines ruggedness with a new driver environment designed to maximize comfort and productivity, the company said.

Versitex offers alternative to FRP

A new laminated thermoplastic composite sheet from U.S. Liner Co. is designed for truck body and truck trailer applications, including refrigerated wall panels, scuff liners and dry freight walls. Called Versitex, it provides twice the impact protection of conventional fiberglass-reinforced polyester (FRP) panels, is lighter in weight and costs less, the company said.

TruckWeight Inc. said its Smart Scale wireless scale for commercial vehicles is now an installed option on Benson International trailers.

TODCO said its new ArmorPlate overhead truck doors possess the extra strength of steel for heavy freight trailer and truck body applications.

International reduces aerodynamic drag 14 percent

International Truck and Engine Corp. said it developed systems and devices that reduce the aerodynamic drag of Class 8 tractor-trailer applications substantially increasing fuel efficiency and potentially saving millions of gallons of diesel fuel. The U.S. Department of Energy funded the project jointly with International.

Volvo devices target improved fuel economy

Relatively simple modifications to heavy truck aerodynamics could provide a welcome decrease in fuel costs for the average over-the-road truck, according to research by Volvo Trucks North America.

Kenworth introduces K360 cabover model

Kenworth is introducing the new K360 Class 7 cabover model for urban delivery companies. The Kenworth K360 is for pick-up and delivery, paper recycling, plumbing, electrical, furniture, food and vending companies that deliver goods in urban areas and require a highly maneuverable truck with 22- to 26-foot body size.
