The evolution of truck equipment continues as Peterbilt shows off its autonomous truck technology. Fleet Equipment Editor-At-Large Carol Birkland was on the front lines to take a ride in Peterbilt’s autonomous truck, which features radar-based adaptive cruise control (ACC) that automatically accelerates and decelerates to maintain safe following distances and Lane departure warning systems that use cameras to detect lane edges and striping and alerts the driver if the vehicle is drifting outside of its lane.
