Work Truck Show details educational session offerings

The Work Truck Show 2015, held March 4–6 at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis, has announced the details of its exclusive educational sessions. According to the show’s organizers, attendees can learn the latest strategies for maximizing ROI, evaluating new technology, controlling costs and better serving customers by attending these sessions.

The Work Truck Show 2015’s educational programming begins March 3.

“The Work Truck Show’s educational sessions provide opportunities for attendees to learn how to improve their operations using input from work truck industry leaders and experts,” said Steve Carey, NTEA executive director. “We’ve sharpened the focus of many of these sessions to give specific answers to the most pressing challenges faced by fleet managers. By participating in the educational sessions, attendees can learn about the newest strategies fleets are using to improve performance and reduce costs.”

According to the show’s organizers, the new “Fleet Management 101: Fundamentals of Truck Fleet Management” workshop provides a thorough introduction to the most important elements of an effective fleet management program. It highlights outsourcing and supplier management, analytics, benchmarking, vehicle cost and replacement, and safety. This session is led by senior representatives from Mercury Associates Inc. The workshop will be held Tuesday, March 3 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

Individual sessions held on Wednesday, March 4, and Thursday, March 5, will provide an in-depth look at decision-making processes fleet operators should follow to implement changes, according to show organizers. These include “Lease or Capital Purchase—Identifying the Best Option for Fleets,” “Strategies and Techniques for Rightsizing Your Fleet,” “Utilizing Life-Cycle Cost Analysis as a Selling or Purchasing Strategy” and “Fleet Performance Measurement and Benchmarking.”

For government fleet operators who must balance the need to provide the best possible service with the financial realities of their agencies and taxpayers, the Indiana Local Technical Assistance Program (LTAP) will host a two-part training course on truck specification development and life-cycle cost analysis. The “Indiana LTAP Fleet Educational Program” special session provides strategies for developing truck chassis specifications, evaluating bids and determining real ROI to ensure a positive outcome for any equipment purchase. The special session takes place Thursday, March 5 from 8:30 a.m.–10:30 a.m.

The Green Truck Summit covers clean vehicle topics. The two-day Green Truck Summit features general and breakout sessions that cover alternative fuel, advanced technology trends and implementation success stories.

Fifteen truck chassis manufacturers will present product line developments and new technical information at the Chassis Update sessions. Those truck chassis manufacturers include Chevrolet & GMC Commercial Truck, Ford Commercial Vehicles, Freightliner Custom Chassis Corp., Freightliner Trucks, Hino Trucks, International Truck, Isuzu Commercial Truck of America, Kenworth Truck Co., Mack Trucks, Mercedes-Benz Vans, Mitsubishi Fuso Truck of America, Nissan Commercial Vehicles, Peterbilt Motors Co., Ram Commercial and Western Star Trucks.
