ConMet releases aftermarket wheel-end products

ConMet recently introduced TruCast, a competitively priced brake drum designed to ensure optimum braking performance, according to the company. TruCast offers a weight-saving advantage as well, the company noted. The 16.5-in. x 8.625-in. version is 9 lbs. lighter than a standard cast drum. In addition to that version, ConMet offers a 16.5-in. x 7-in. drum that weighs 106 lbs.

“We relied on our proven TruTurn and CastLite brake drum technologies to create an affordable brake drum for heavy-duty truck and trailer applications,” said Mark Wagner, ConMet’s vice president of Wheel Ends.

ConMet added that TruCast drums offer the following features:

  • 100% balanced for vibration-free operation;
  • Tested to meet the strictest FMVSS and OEM standards; and
  • Manufactured to ConMet’s industry-leading material and quality standards.

The company made TruCast Brake Drums available exclusively through dealer networks and ConMet Premier Partners this past December. ConMet also released updated hub rebuild kits.

“Whether you are replacing an entire hub assembly or rebuilding one and only need a few components, we offer the right ConMet parts for the job,” Wagner claimed.

These kits come in several configurations to meet the rebuilding needs of PreSet and PreSet Plus hubs, according to the company.
