Western Star charges fans with “Design Our Star Project II”

Western Star puts fans in charge with “Design Our Star Project II”

Based on the success of its first campaign, Western Star Truck Sales Inc. is brought back the “Design Our Star Project II.” Voting started at MATS in the Western Star booth and online. Western Star will build a customized show truck based on final voting results, with the final truck revealed at the 2016 Mid-America Trucking Show. The “Design Our Star Project II” site will host regular voting rounds at www.DesignOurStar.com, where fans may select truck model options, application, interior options, exterior aesthetics and more. Results from each round will be posted in real time on the website.

“Western Star fans are passionate about their trucks, and this project unites this community to help create something special,” said Andy Johnson, brand manager for Western Star. “More than 16,000 votes helped decide the first Design Our Star truck, and we’re excited to see where our fans take us this time.”

The first “Design Our Star Project” truck—a Western Star 4900EX tractor with a Detroit DD16 engine, a big and bold chrome accessory package and a custom 1970s paint job—was presented to the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association (OOIDA) and has been used to pull the OOIDA “Spirit of the American Trucker” tour trailer to various events.
