Haldex brings ModulT air disc brakes to North America

Haldex has announced that it is bringing its ModulT air disc brake product line to North America. The ModulT air disc brake has been made in Europe and Asia since 2011, and has been road tested in Canada; this is its first time being released to the North American market. The company says the ModulT brakes are primarily for trailer applications, and are ideal for on-highway, but are also an option for tougher applications. Benefits of the ModulT (pictured above) highlighted by Haldex include lower weight-to-braking force ratio, simplified maintenance that reduces downtime and low hysteresis that produces high braking efficiency. The first member of the ModulT family to be introduced in North America is the 22.5-in. optimized trailer brake, weighing 70 lbs. including pads. It will soon be followed with 19.5-in. and 22.5-in. air disc brake sizes for trucks and buses.

“The ModulT air disc brake is the perfect solution for fleets looking for high efficiency with greater control and stability for a long service life with lower total cost of ownership,” said Haldex Global Product Manager of Disc Brakes Jeff Stokes.
