Parker Chelsea introduces new medium-duty products

Parker Chelsea showcased three new products in their power takeoff lineup at the NTEA Work Truck Show 2016. The company detailed the following products:

  1. The Smart Start is a new option for the Chelsea 280 Series Power Take-Off (PTO). This new design is solving the spike torque issues on higher start up inertias that are found on mobile air compressor applications, according to the company. The Smart Start manages the system pressure that is used to engage the PTO’s clutch pack, enabling it to absorb the torque spikes from the air compressor applications and provide a smooth engagement, free from the equipment damaging shock loads found on these types of applications. In addition, the Smart Start helps to protect the transmission by preventing the spike torque found at start up from being transferred down stream into the transmission.
  2. The new 287 Series features a PTO design based on the company’s 280 Series, utilizing their wider gears and larger capacity bearing to provide you with a single continuous duty torque rating. No more intermittent rating. Pump clearance issues have been improved with rotatable cast iron flanges and the wet spline pump flange option provides seven to 10 times greater shaft life, Parker Chelsea explained. The speed ranges expands to nine ratios, and the standard output shaft features a new positive stop for driveline outputs that eliminates the ability for shaft couplings to damage oil seals. Three assembly arrangements provide you with maximum clearance on your application. The pressure/lube hose will be included.
  3. Chelsea’s new 272 and 272F Series features a patent pending Noise Suppression System. The 272 series (pictured above) is a six-bolt mounting pattern that will fit on today’s popular automatic and manual transmissions. The 272F series provides a compact housing that helps eliminate clearance issues. High capacity bearings and superior gear designs provide you with torque ratings up to 300 lbs./ft. for the ultimate performance. It features eighteen shift options, twelve of which are integrated into the PTO housing. The hoses are included with the PTO for simplified ordering. Our popular Electronic Overspeed Control (EOC) is also available to protect your driven equipment. Nine internal gear ratios provide users with a wide variety of speeds to meet any application requirements. The direct mount pump flange options are available with our Wet Spline design that provides you with increased PTO and pump shaft life.
