Luber-finer highlights Extreme Clean cabin air filters

Filters for all seasons: Luber-finer talks seasonal filter spec’ing

Now that spring has sprung, noses will run, eyes will itch and throats will scratch. Yes, Mother Nature’s warmer temperatures have resuscitated the flora that has lain dormant during the winter months, but the more temperate days and nights have also awakened the pollen that can be the cause of so many springtime allergy symptoms.

Hay-fever sufferers should fear not, however, as there is a place where they can find sanctuary from the stuffy nose, itchy eyes and scratchy throats that are the bane of their springtime existence—provided you take the proper precautions. That place is a vehicle’s passenger compartment, but only if it is guarded by the best filter technology, one that is best equipped to win the battle with airborne allergens.

The first line of defense in the fight to keep airborne contaminants from entering the truck cab is a properly installed and maintained cabin air filter. A reliably functioning cabin air filter will provide a steady stream of clean, pollen-free, breathable air to the cabin. This can be especially crucial for long-haul on-road truck drivers and heavy duty equipment operators who can spend upwards of ten hours a day in their cabs. When you also consider that many drivers consider their vehicles a home away from home and often sleep in their cabin space, the need to deliver clean air is also critical to ensuring that the overall health of the driver is not compromised.

However, most cabin air filters are readily accessible under the dashboard on the passenger side of the vehicle or neat the rear of the cowl under the hood. After locating and removing the filter, tap it against your hand or a hard surface; if a noticeable amount of dust falls, the filter will need to be replaced. Before inserting the new filter, use a vacuum or clean, dry cloth to clean the outside-air intake duct, which may contain dirt, pollen and other debris. After inserting the new filter, ensure that the air-intake screen is sealed properly, which will prevent water from entering the system and fouling the filter.

To help users of its cabin air filters perform do-it-yourself replacement of dirty filters, Luber-finer has created a series of how-to videos that illustrate the proper way to exchange an old filter for a new one. Additionally, Luber-finer highlighted its Extreme Clean HD Premium Cabin Air Filters, which possess the capability to trap airborne particles ranging in size from 5 to 100 microns, according to the company. This allows the Extreme Clean to prevent 98% of allergens from entering the passenger cabin of a heavy duty vehicle.
