Five truck trend takeaways from February

February is among one of the least favorite months of the year to the vast majority of the population. For real, take a look here or here, or here. Who could blame them? The days still feel short; it’s not really winter, but it’s definitely not spring; the realization of the holiday weight kicks in. If anything, its only notable quality is being that its the shortest month. One most are ready to part with. So, whether you are glad to see the month come to a close or are sad to see it go, we’d like to take the opportunity to recap our favorites as we March into the new month (get it?)

5. BYD and Nikola go long (distance)

Everyone loves a game day drink. And, when it came to the Super Bowl, BYD and Nikola were ready to deliver. With the use of an FCEV and EV, the companies were able to transport Bud Light NEXT with zero emissions to the local bars and stores of Carson, California.

4. The great debate

Step aside Sasquatch. The only footprint we’re debating is the carbon footprint. As the industry works to reduce it, EVs, hydrogen fuel and internal combustion systems are all making great advancements. But which one will dominate future highways? Check out this article and decide for yourself.

3. DEFinitely taking longer than we thought

The DEF quality sensor shortage is an issue causing lots of headaches and frustration. So, if you are among the many fleet managers that are looking for some answers, we’ve got you covered with the help from Navistar and Noregon.

2. The shocking results of static electricity

You know how they say too much of something is bad? This is especially true when talking about electricity. A high-voltage discharge could prove fatal for your truck’s computer-controlled components, but don’t worry – there’s a solution that keeps you in charge.

1. Start your acquisition engines

Talk about big news! Coming in first at number one is the exciting partnership of Cummins and Meritor. Cummins has paid approximately $3.7 billion to acquire Meritor. Check out the announcement and full transcript of the analyst call for all the latest information.

Black curtains surround the room that's segmented by rolling privacy screens, blocking off the business end of a European Volvo truck (is it an FH? An electric? It's hard to tell.)
