Leonard’s Express opts for Isaac Instruments telematics

The refrigerated carrier says it felt current safety technology had grown "stagnant," and formed this partnership to better serve drivers.

Leonard’s Express has partnered with Isaac Instruments to outfit its fleet of 640 trucks and 1,100 trailers with Isaac electronic logging devices (ELDs) and other telematic solutions. Despite having received the TCA Fleet Safety Award multiple times, Leonard’s Express says it felt the existing technology was stagnant, and needed to form this partnership to better serve drivers.

Chris DeMillo, vice president of IT for Leonard’s Express, highlighted the simplified workflow for drivers. “We look at this in-cab experience as a competitive advantage,” DeMillo said. “We’ve never had a workflow solution like this to help guide our drivers through their days. We are excited to deliver that to them.”

DeMillo adds that the strength of Isaac’s integration with the TMW transportation management system (TMS) was also a deciding factor in the decision to partner with Isaac. “We saw how Isaac is in lockstep with the TMS system,” DeMillo said. “We see the opportunities for the platform to extend beyond the TMS in order to connect other critical systems, which increase the value-add in a connected experience for both our drivers and back office.”

Isaac and Lenoard’s Express expect the new platform to be rolled out across the entire fleet early this year.
