Vanair introduces PTO shaft-driven all-in-one Underdeck power system

The PTO Shaft-Driven Underdeck All-in-One Power System has been designed to integrate beneath the vehicle chassis.

Vanair introduced a new PTO Shaft-Driven Underdeck All-in-One Power System at this year’s Work Truck Show.

The PTO Shaft-Driven Underdeck All-in-One Power System has been designed to integrate beneath the vehicle chassis, opening cargo space.

“Our Underdeck All-in-One Power System streamlines six independent machines into a single unit with one footprint,” said Ralph Kokot, chief executive officer of Vanair. “With the new Underdeck All-in-One Power System, we deliver the same comprehensive power, including welding capabilities, without encroaching on any vehicle bed space.”

According to Vanair, the system’s six forms of power include:

  • A 125-185 CFM rotary screw air compressor
  • A powerful 10kW generator
  • A 330A welder
  • 12V, 24V and optional 36V and 48V battery boosting capabilities
  • 12V-24V and optional 36V and 48V battery charging capacity
  • Up to 30 GPM at 2000 PSI of hydraulic-driven power

Vanair says users can now replace six separate pieces of equipment, providing additional bed space, enhanced maneuverability, reduced maintenance requirements, free vehicle hitches, and a weight savings of more than 2,000 lbs. The design also uses Vanair’s new Sansgear belt drive for the hydraulic system.

The company says that jobsite personnel will be equipped with the tools needed for welding, powering essential equipment and jump-starting other vehicles.

One feature is the Xero Rapid Blow Down Tank design, which allows for immediate compressor disengagement and reengagement with zero blow-down time. The company says this tank design eliminates the need to wait for the system to blow down completely, and permits up to a 15% angle of operation from side-to-side or front-to-back.

Vanair equips its PTO Shaft-Driven Underdeck Power Systems with the FailSafe Dual Sensory Redundancy System as a standard feature. They say this system guarantees an uninterrupted power supply by switching to the backup unit in the event of a thermistor or transducer sensor failure. There is also the option for the ThermalGuard Weather Protection Kit, which preheats the compressor oil and regulators using the vehicle’s warm engine coolant. This feature prevents oil starvation and freeze-ups during frigid conditions, the company said.

Why fuel filtration science matters

Fleetguard shares the story of filtration science leading to a biodiesel solution with a seven-time increase in performance.

Biodiesel consumption accelerated and feedstocks rapidly changed in 2022 as a result of an unanticipated shift in governmental policies that encouraged the consumption of biodiesel. In addition, geopolitical events limited supplies of conventional ultra-low sulfur diesel (ULSD).

Driving the consumption of these non-standard blends were governmental policies in many regions that required biodiesel consumption or encouraged it with financial incentives. In other regions, the impact of the war in Ukraine and other political instabilities constricted supplies of conventional fossil diesel.
