New Delo Heavy Duty EP greases introduced for severe service environments

Chevron’s Delo brand of technologically advanced engine oils, lubricants and coolants, has announced the latest member of its product family, Delo Heavy Duty EP. Formulated with Chevron ISOSYN base stocks, Delo Heavy Duty EP greases are suited for heavy to severe duty on- and off-highway construction and maintenance vehicles, including tri-axle dump trucks, cement mixers, overweight truck and trailer combinations, logging, heavy machinery haul trucks as well as a wide variety of off-road applications, including construction, surface and underground mining and agriculture.

“Although our current Delo Greases EP are ideal for most applications in the trucking market, there are more demanding service environments that require a heavier duty grease,” said John Geyer, global industrial channel specialist, Chevron Products Co. “In these ‘severe service’ environments, our new Delo Heavy Duty EP greases are the ideal fit. Delo Greases EP and Delo Heavy Duty EP greases are fully compatible, so there are no issues when switching between the two products. With the introduction of our new grease, we’ve created a comprehensive Delo product offering that meets the needs of our most demanding customers.”

The company said Delo Heavy Duty EP greases display outstanding water washout and spray-off resistance properties in wet, off-road environments and offer excellent shock load extreme pressure (EP) protection. These properties make the product suitable for use with pins and bushings on dump beds, buckets, loaders, shovels and continuous miners, shaker screens, crushers and conveyors.

3 percent and 5 percent Moly Versions
Two versions of the new grease – Delo Heavy Duty Moly 3 percent EP and Delo Heavy Duty Moly 5 percent EP – are also available. These greases will work in a wide range of applications where 3 percent and 5 percent molybdenum content is required to meet OEM warranty specification requirements.

The unique additive technology of these products makes them tenacious in adhering to metal surfaces found in these demanding heavy duty environments while helping to protect the machine’s vital components from wear, rust and corrosion, the company noted.

Availability
Delo Heavy Duty EP, Delo Heavy Duty Moly 3 percent EP and Delo Heavy Duty Moly 5 percent EP will be available across North American in the second quarter of 2008. Contact Chevron or your local lubricant marketer for more information on availability and package styles.

All three Delo Heavy Duty EP greases come in multiple grades:

  • NLGI 1 for better pumpability at lower ambient temperatures
  • NLGI 2 for use in normal ambient temperatures

Delo Heavy Duty EP greases meet the requirements of the Mack MG-C grease specification and also meet Caterpillar recommendations for greases containing 3 percent and 5 percent molybdenum disulfide.

All Delo products are covered under the Delo Warranty Plus program, which provides bumper-to-bumper protection against lubricant and coolant related failures as described in the Delo warranty.
