Think global warming—all the time

We should approach fleet operation as if global warming legislation was already in effect, because it makes good business sense. Some of the things we can do today to reduce our carbon footprint can also make us more efficient, therefore more profitable. Some of you out there don’t believe global warming exists—I can understand your

Lubri-Gas restores engine power

Casite’s Lubri-Gas provides full-time lubrication to fuel system components, top cylinders, rings and valves, reducing friction heat and wear that robs vehicles of power and performance. According to the company, using Lubri-Gas regularly will clean and prevent deposits on fuel injectors and prevent varnish build-up in the entire fuel system. In addition, the formula improves fuel economy up to 15%, the company said.

Lubri-Diesel Plus Winterizer provides freeze protection

Casite’s Lubri-Diesel Plus Winterizer reduces emissions and increases the lubricity of ultra low sulfur diesel fuel, in addition to preventing fuel gelling and icing to -35 degrees F. The formula also removes deposits from fuel injectors to maintain peak performance.

Fumoto offers quick release oil valve

Fumoto’s new quick release brass ball valve replaces standard crankcase oil drain plugs. Once installed, the Fumoto Valve allows users to drain engine oil without tools and without mess. For industrial engines, the N-Series valve comes with a hose adapter to drain the oil away from engines.

Casite’s Lubri-Diesel boosts fuel economy

Lubri-Diesel from Casite prevents premature injection pump and o-ring seal failure, in addition to boosting fuel economy by up to 15%. Lubri-Diesel adds lubricity to the entire fuel system components, top cylinders, rings and valves, which reduces friction heat and wear, in addition to increasing compression pressure, power and performance. With regular usage, it removes deposits from fuel injectors and prevents varnish and deposits in the entire fuel system.

Multiple components can influence truck handling

Change is a constant. Never has this been more obvious than in the increasing diversity of vehicle sizes and the configurations and the service conditions they are expected to endure. The days of a typical trucking fleet composed of just linehaul tractors and smaller delivery trucks are rapidly disappearing. Truck brands, many new to the

Is your oil “swelling?”

Recently, I was contacted by a reader who thought his oil might be “swelling,” because he got dipstick readings above the full mark immediately before changing oil. He wanted to know if oil could possibly “swell.” Many modern low oil-consumption diesels could easily give the operator the impression that oil was swelling in service. The

Lessen dependency and add incentives

Oil refiners made less money in the third quarter of this year. Most of them reported approximately half of the profits they made in the same period last year. The oil industry’s fortunes mirror the price of crude oil. When crude oil prices were outrageous last year, oil companies were profitable and funded some alternative

Axle length matters

Currently, there is discussion in the industry that has the potential to affect tire selection. Ironically, tires themselves aren’t really the issue. The use of new generation wide single tires, primarily the 55 Series designed for over-the-road use, replacing traditional dual sets, is at the heart of the issue. In order to maintain approximately the

Rislone debuts new oil treatment

Bar’s Products Inc. said its new Rislone 710 high-performance oil treatment (Product No. 4471) is a high-viscosity formula that increases oil film thickness, building a thicker oil cushion that increases oil pressure to enable a worn engine to produce more power and run quieter. The company said it also protects against further engine wear by cushioning and coating engine parts to reduce friction and prevent metal-to-metal contact between moving parts.

The oil treatment now includes a viscosity improver, to ensure that the product works well in both hot and cold weather, according to the maker. It works with all gasoline and diesel engines using conventional, high-mileage and synthetic oil, the company added.

Valvoline guarantees truck fleets up to 4% better MPG

Valvoline, a marketer of fuel-efficient truck engine oils, lubricants and chemicals, is teaming up with tiwi, a provider of telematics and driver-mentoring systems, to launch a program to deliver better fleet fuel mileage, backed with an exclusive limited Fuel Proof Guarantee.

The guarantee covers a 120-day customer demonstration period and is being offered to fleet operators with a minimum enrollment of 30 trucks. The two companies work with fleet maintenance managers to establish baseline data using the tiwi onboard system.

Rolling resistance: Part 1 of fuel consumption

Not so long ago, there were three primary criteria for truck tire selection: treadwear, durability and price. Consolidation of the tire manufacturing industry and advances in materials and process technology have brought wear and durability much closer together among tire brands, and at much higher levels of overall performance. It might even be said, provided
