Continental partners with CMC Tire

Continental, CMC Tire partner to expand retreading network

CMC Tire Inc. and Continental Tire’s Commercial Vehicle Tire group have partnered up and celebrated this partnership with the opening of their first commercial tire retread facility in Las Vegas. During the grand opening celebration held at the company’s new 25,000 sq.-ft. facility, CMC Tire announced its intention to service both southern Utah and the greater Las Vegas area with new and retread tires. The retreads are made with Continental’s ContiTread premium retreading solution, which is built to extend the overall life of the tire.

The new retread facility can produce up to 24,000 retreads annually and production capacity is expected to grow to 48,000 retreads annually. The facility will service more than 300 customers and create 18 new jobs.

Mike Morast, co-owner of CMC Tire, said, “The partnership is critical for our aggressive growth plans and is perfectly aligned with ContiLifeCycle’s aggressive growth strategy. With all new equipment that includes the latest retread technology, our partnership brings a proven retread product to the southwest market.”

“Our dealer partners in the ContiLifeCycle network will service customers who want to extend the performance of their Continental truck tires,” said Paul Williams, Continental’s executive vice president for truck tires in the Americas. “They require retreads that look like new and run like new. Our ContiTread products are engineered with the same compounds and tread designs as our new tires.”

The rest of the building, named Lundby, high-tech center for research and development at Volvo Trucks headquarters in Gothenburg, Sweden, is off-limits. Even several of the Gothenburg-based Volvo Trucks employees that are presenting haven't been allowed in this building before. But what we're here to talk about is anything but a secret.
