Hendrickson launches severe-duty rubber suspension

The Ultimaax severe-duty rubber suspension for vocational markets, available initially in capacities of 46,000, 52,000 and 60,000 lbs., has been introduced by Hendrickson Truck Commercial Vehicle Systems.

The Ultimaax severe-duty rubber suspension for vocational markets, available initially in capacities of 46,000, 52,000 and 60,000 lbs., has been introduced by Hendrickson Truck Commercial Vehicle Systems. Ultimaax, according to the company, delivers enhanced stability, handling and ride quality where vehicles encounter unexpected ground conditions by integrating Hendrickson walking (equalizing) beam technology with a progressive rate spring.

The Ultimaax system, the manufacturer notes, has been through more extreme testing than any product developed by Hendrickson, including component and proving ground validations. In addition, fleets have been running prototype units in extreme applications in North America for the last five years.

American Trucking Associations’ advanced seasonally adjusted For-Hire Truck Tonnage Index further declined 1.2% in April, after the 2.2% decrease seen in March. In April, the index equaled 111.7 compared with 113.1 in March.

“The truck freight market remained soft in April as seasonally adjusted volumes fell for the second straight month,” said Bob Costello, American Trucking Associations chief economist. “With a rebound in freight remaining elusive, it is likely that additional capacity will leave the industry in the face of continued softness in the market.”
