Mack has invested more than $385 million to upgrade the 1.5 million square-foot Hagerstown plant since 2001. The company has also cut down on electricity use, which is down almost 9 million kilowatt hours since 2012 – enough savings to power more than 830 homes for a full year, the company says.
At the inauguration event for Mack’s new line of axles, Mack Trucks North America president Stephen Roy said, “We are committed to building in the USA.”
Mack president Roy added that having all aspects of the powertrain built under one roof enables Mack to “oversee all the critical aspects of the axle manufacturing process, from the inception to the creation to the development.”
