NRS highlights important brake pad features to face winter weather challenges

Proper braking system operation is always important, but doubly so in winter weather when snow and ice can present poor driving conditions. A brake pad that is crumbling due to corrosion is both a safety issue and cost liability. Ahead of winter weather, NRS noted several key replacement brake pad features that are important to ensure optimal braking performance.

• Corrosion resistance: The use of galvanized steel in NRS Galvanized Steel Brake Pads helps prevent rust and corrosion from occurring, thus extending the brake pad’s life. Additionally, the use of protected steel will allow the friction to wear down completely before any chance of separation occurs.

• Mechanical attachment: The NRS-patented mechanical brake pad attachment ensures that the engineered layers of the brake pad do not separate overtime. Unlike the many other brake pads that use a simple adhesive, the innovative NRS-patented mechanical brake pad attachment ensures that the engineered layers of the brake pad do not separate over time or crumble from corrosion.

• Environmentally sensitive: NRS Galvanized Brake Pads employ premium semi-metallic and copper-free materials that dissipate heat and cool efficiently, resulting in less brake dust.

• Quiet braking:  NRS Piston Cushion Insert is designed to help reduce the noise level by up to 90%.The NRS Piston Cushion Insert acts as a barrier to minimize heat transfer to brake fluids, thus reducing brake noise.

Covering automotive and commercial vehicles up to Class 7, NRS Galvanized Brake Pads avoid the rust and damage caused by corrosion with brake pads individually tailored to  customer and application needs. Fifty-seven new SKUs have been added to the North American-made galvanized brake pad lineup. An additional 1,600 vehicle applications are now covered, including BMW, Honda, Ford, GMC Trucks, Nissan and more.
