Peterbilt reaches record production levels for Model 320

Peterbilt Motors Co. said it has set a company production record for its Model 320. The low-cab-forward vehicle, for vocational markets including refuse, construction, tanker and fire service applications, is designed to facilitate specialized body installations and provide comfort with the durability required to operate in extremely harsh conditions.

Peterbilt breaks ground for new Montana facility

Peterbilt Motors Co. started construction of a 54,000-sq.-ft. Montana Peterbilt dealership facility in Lockwood, Mont. Scheduled to open in May 2013, the new facility will feature 26 full-service bays for truck maintenance and repair operations, and a spacious drivers’ lounge.

Peterbilt Model 579 receives SmartWay designation

The new Model 579 from Peterbilt Motors Co. has received the U.S. EPA’s SmartWay designation. The 579’s features include aerodynamic styling; an electrical system architecture that includes protection, routing design elements, and improved electric-over-air rocker switches; and a chassis that reduces noise and vibration.

Peterbilt begins production of Model 579

Introduced earlier this year, the new Peterbilt Model 579 is now being built at the OEM’s manufacturing facility in Denton, Texas. Available in a day cab model, or with a detachable sleeper, the Model 579 features the PACCAR MX 12.9-liter engine.

Peterbilt announces ‘Legend Continues’ Tour dates

The Legend Continues Tour, which began in June and will continue through November 2012, will stop at more than 40 Peterbilt dealer locations across the U.S. and Canada. The tour’s Peterbilt Model 579 with 53-ft. double-expandable trailer houses approximately 1,000 sq. ft. of space with kiosks and displays that highlight the Model 579’s design features, technology and performance.

Ship-thru available for Isuzu N-Series gasoline trucks

Isuzu Commercial Truck of America said it will enable its dealers to more quickly convert or modify gasoline-powered NPR-HD trucks for their customers. The trucks will be modified at one of two independent modification centers near the Charlotte, Mich., assembly plant. Following the modification, the center will return the trucks to Isuzu, which will then transport them to the dealers that ordered the units.

The new 2012 designs have paired a lightweight chassis and frame rail with a strategically positioned electrical system to optimize body installation and increase payload capacity. Models 210 and 220 utilize SCR technology and are 2010 emissions compliant; the new designs also are available with an Allison 2100 Series automatic transmission.

Peterbilt names Parts and Service Dealer of the Year

Peterbilt Motors Co. has named Peterbilt of Sioux City in Sioux City, Iowa, as the 2011 Peterbilt Parts and Service Dealer of the Year. Brad Wilson, dealer principal of Peterbilt of Sioux City, and his team accepted the award at the annual Parts and Service Meeting.
