Ranger Products recently unveiled its new high-powered RP-20FC Oil Filter Crusher. In just 20 seconds, this industrial-quality, welded steel plate crusher applies 10 tons of air-operated pressure to just about any used oil filter, reducing it to 25% of its original size and removing 95% of the oil, the company said. The exclusive X-shape bevel in the press head pre-aligns filters for an absolute vertical press, so even 8-in. tall filters fold beneath its force.

With an integrated collection chamber and collector downspout for simple oil recovery, the design operates cleanly and efficiently to reduce spill hazards, Ranger said. With greatly reduced size, oil filters are both easier to store and cheaper to dispose of, which encourages proper waste management, the maker added.

The door on the unit also doubles as a fail-safe device that ceases all operations the moment it’s opened. It also has a transparent monitoring window, so the operator can inspect the process. An optional stand is also available. Fabricated from rugged steel, it accommodates a 5-, 16- or 55-gal. drum fitted with casters beneath, with the oil filter crusher bolted on top.
