Trailers have gotten smarter, but have fleets?

Trailers have gotten smarter, but have fleets?

Where we're at with trailer telematics.

“Smart trailers” are fun buzz words, but when you start to think about what that actually means, it should boil down to: insightful intelligence. That means data-driven trailer solutions that go beyond locating your trailers. They should inform how you operate those trailers, service those trailers, and even when to replace those trailers. Thanks to the evolution of connectivity, sophisticated algorithms and component suppliers that are integrating their sensors, trailer telematics is making good on the “smart trailer” promise.

Now what about fleet adoption and smart trailer utilization? What trailer telematics solutions are fleets leveraging and where’s the low hanging fruit for fleets that want to take advantage of smart trailer action items?

For that, Rob Phillips, chief executive officer, Phillips Industries, and founder and chief executive officer, Phillips Connect, took to the Fleet Equipment Unscripted hot seat to give us his view of where fleets are leveraging trailer intelligence. He also hints at the future of trailer data-driven solutions and perhaps even what role tractor data will play. Watch the video above for all of his insight.
