Alcoa Introduces the LvL ONE

Alcoa Wheel and Transportation Products (AWTP) unveiled a significant new advancement in forged wheel technology, the LvL ONE wheel at the Mid-America Trucking Show (MATS) this week. Using a new, proprietary process, Alcoa said it has created the industry’s lightest forged aluminum wheel by reducing the weight by two lbs. but with even greater strength, and with a superior finish on both sides of the wheel.

Toyo Tires rolls out two new sizes of M154 for commercial trucks

Toyo Tire U.S.A. Corp. has rolled out two new sizes of its Toyo M154 ultra-premium, regional highway commercial tire. The two new sizes are 265/75R22.5 and 245/75R22.5, both in load range G.

IMI offers new alternative to lead weights

International Marketing Inc. (IMI) offers a variety of alternatives to lead weights that deliver superior performance while eliminating the use of harmful materials, the company said. Since 1989, IMI has offered EQUAL, an internal balancing compound and a vibration reduction alternative to lead weights for heavy-duty trucks. In instances when an internal balancing compound cannot be deployed, IMI’s newly introduced XACTBalance-180s deliver a better ride and fuel economy benefit, the company said.

Goodyear introduces several new truck tires

The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. has introduced several new products in its commercial truck tire line. The Goodyear G316 LHT Fuel Max with DuraSeal combines two technologies: Goodyear – Fuel Max technology, which incorporates compounds and constructions to help improve miles per gallon, and DuraSeal technology, a built-in tire sealant for commercial truck tires that instantly seals tread punctures (up to a quarter-inch diameter in the tread area only) without application of aftermarket sealants.

Michelin adds new Antisplash truck tire

With the patented Antisplash deflector on both of the tire’s sidewalls, the new Michelin XZA3 Antisplash tire helps make highways safer by lowering the trajectory of water spraying from the tires, the company said. Lower splash trajectory means less water on windshields, significantly improving overall visibility in heavy rain for oncoming and overtaking motorists, as well as truck drivers.

Alcoa offers 14-in. wide base wheels

Outfitting your truck with Alcoa 14-in. wide base wheels in place of dual wheels means you’ll save big on weight, according to the manufacturer – 318 lbs. per axle (when converting from steel dual wheels). That’s up to 1,272 lbs. for the whole rig. Alcoa aluminum 14-in. wide base wheels weigh only 71 lbs. each and are load rated up to 12,800 lbs. But weight isn’t the only reason to choose a wide base configuration.

Bridgestone brand adds new sizes to its all-position radial lineup

Bridgestone Bandag Tire Solutions (BBTS) is adding two sizes to its lineup of Bridgestone R250 ED all-position radial tires. Regional and pickup-and-delivery fleets seeking better protection from the stresses of curbing, tread cuts and impacts now have more options with the new 255/70R22.5 and 275/70R22.5 tire sizes. These, and other sizes, are available from a Bridgestone commercial tire dealer or truckstop.

New tire pressure monitors for wide-base single tires

Fleet Specialties Co. announces three new Tire Sentry systems designed for trucks and/or trailers with wide-base super-single tires. The TMA-SS Series of advanced tire pressure monitors will warn drivers of developing tire problems resulting from a loss of tire pressure at a fraction of the cost of a replacement tire, said the maker.
