Advantage PressurePro releases drop-and-hook tire pressure monitoring system

Advantage PressurePro, maker of the original external tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) announced the release of their new Intelligent, “Drop-and-Hook” TPMS. The Drop-and-Hook System, a first in the market, has been designed to work specifically with multi trailer fleets, allowing automatic tethering and un-tethering of trailers to tractors.

STEMCO introduces AirBAT RF DAS (Driver Alert System)

STEMCO, a maker of heavy-duty truck and trailer wheel end products, introduces AirBAT RF DAS (Driver Alert System), a new product added to the BAT RF family of technology products. The Driver Alert System is an in-cab indicator that alerts the driver to tires that are under inflated.

STEMCO introduces an AirBAT tire pressure-monitoring sensor specifically designed for singlewide tire applications. The AirBAT tire pressure monitoring sensors are mounted on the wheel end and continually monitor tire pressure with visual alerts to detect under-inflated tires, according to the company. Under-inflated tires lead to increased fuel costs; with the current price of diesel fuel it is more important than ever that tires be properly inflated in order to save up to three percent on fuel costs, STEMCO advised.

Firestone adds new sizes to its ultra-deep drive radial lineup

Bridgestone Bandag Tire Solutions (BBTS) is adding two sizes to its lineup of new Firestone FD690 PLUS deep drive axle radial tires. Pickup and delivery fleets seeking long-mileage wear now have more options with the new 225/70R19.5 and 245/70R19.5 tire sizes, the tire maker said. These, and other sizes, are available from a Firestone commercial tire dealer or truckstop.

Hankook offers new AL07+ long-haul steer tire

The new AL07+ long-haul steer tire from Hankook Tire utilizes innovative technology to increase both durability and fuel efficiency, its maker said. “Hankook’s AL07+ is truly a great innovation for truckers everywhere,” said Brian Sheehey, commercial tires director, Hankook Tire America Corp.

Michelin introduces X One XDN2 tire

Michelin Americas Truck Tires has unveiled the latest tire in its X One wide single tire line — the Michelin X One XDN2 tire. It is the first X One tire in North America to utilize multiple Michelin Durable Technologies (MDT). The maker said the tire will be available to end-users in November 2008.

Continental Tire introduces new fuel-efficient steer tire

Continental Tire North America Inc. (CTNA) has launched the new Continental HSL2 (Heavy Steer Long Haul) steer tire to the North American market. The HSL2 is the first in a series of the next generation fuel-efficient tires to be launched. Designed as an all-position steer tire for long haul, over-the-highway use, the manufacturer said the Continental HSL2 utilizes the latest enhancements in tire technology to extend tire life while increasing the fuel economy benefits of the steer axle position.

Doran 360 SmartLink tire pressure monitoring system designed for ‘drop and hook’ fleets

The new Doran 360 SmarltLink tire pressure monitoring system was designed specifically for truck fleets with "drop and hook" trailers and is one of the most advanced tire monitoring system available, its maker said. With this system, wireless sensors are screwed-on to the valve stems of the trailer tires and the tire pressure information is sent to a trailer-mounted SmartLink receiver/transmitter that collects and transfers the data to a cab-mounted display unit. The wireless sensors mounted on the truck tires are also programmed to the monitor in the cab. When the truck is hooked to a new trailer, it only requires a simple one-button operation by the driver to drop and add the correct trailer.

Bridgestone Bandag Tire Solutions (BBTS) is introducing six new sizes to its lineup of Firestone FS560 PLUS tough-wearing steers. These premium tires are specially designed to deliver long wear and low cost per mile for the demanding work of P&D and local hauling applications, the company said.

Alcoa offers new M-Series for Sprinter 3500

Alcoa Wheel and Transportation Products has announced a new medium-duty wheel designed for the Sprinter 3500 chassis. This new M-Series forged aluminum wheel is both lightweight and durable, the company said. Designed to improve styling options to RV, shuttle, van and work truck upfitters, the wheel option provides aluminum’s corrosion resistance, lighter weight and improved heat management for extended brake and tire life. In addition, the manufacturer said aluminum wheels enhance the resale value of used vehicles at trade-in.

Firestone introduces aggressive extra-deep on/off-highway drive

The new Firestone FD835 on/off-highway drive is designed to deliver superior traction and exceptional removal mileage in severe-service applications, the manufacturer said. The aggressive drive is suitable for rugged applications in logging, construction, mining, refuse or oil field service.

Webb Vortex lightweight gray iron drum introduced to heavy-duty aftermarket

The aftermarket business unit of Webb Wheel Products Inc. announced the availability of the high performing, lightweight Webb Vortex brake drum for aftermarket replacement needs. Part number 76864, a 16 1/2 x 7 drum weighing 100 lbs. produced from standard gray iron metallurgy, is an alternative replacement drum for more expensive steel shelled or other lightweight drums used in rear and trailer applications, the manufacturer said.
