STEMCO introduces an AirBAT tire pressure-monitoring sensor specifically designed for singlewide tire applications. The AirBAT tire pressure monitoring sensors are mounted on the wheel end and continually monitor tire pressure with visual alerts to detect under-inflated tires, according to the company. Under-inflated tires lead to increased fuel costs; with the current price of diesel fuel it is more important than ever that tires be properly inflated in order to save up to three percent on fuel costs, STEMCO advised.
Singlewide tire applications require a closer management of tire air pressure because there is only one tire as opposed to two. The AirBAT provides a visual indicator on the wheel-end that indicates low tire pressure, enabling the driver or technician to be alerted and immediately add air to the tire. It is critical that singlewide tires maintain the proper air pressure in order to rely on the safety and performance of one tire.
In addition, the new AirBAT sensor works in concert with all of the existing BAT RF family of products, the HandBAT handheld reader, the DAS Driver Alert System, the gate reader, the satellite interface module as well as WebBAT, the internet based fleet management software, STEMCO noted.
The company added that these products have been specifically designed to help fleet managers increase safety, fuel efficiency and the life of truck and trailer tires.
