Peterson introduces new LED interior light

Peterson Manufacturing announced a newly-designed interior lighting system for cargo vehicles. Listed as the 359 Series, the light features a 1 in. x 18 in. bar of high-output Great White LEDs and offers a host of advantages over traditional recessed dome lights, said the company.

Among those advantages is its easy, go-anywhere, surface screw mount versatility, explained the company. The 359 Series light requires no cutting into trailer ceilings or side walls to install heat-dissipating mounting pans and conduit, thus reducing material costs and eliminating loss of R-value in insulated cargo areas.

According to Pat Clift, Peterson director-OEM sales, the overall savings with the 359 Series lights are substantial. “Purchasing and installing these new lights is about half the cost of the old, recessed dome light models,” Clift says. “And the 359’s cost efficiencies are matched by its energy and lighting efficiencies.”

Great White LEDs output 600 lumens per unit, notes the company.

The series is designed for use in any environment from -55-degree to higher temperatures, and is ideal for a wide range of applications—from heavy-duty dry van and reefer trailers to smaller box trucks. An interior control module/timer switch is also available as an option. Clift reports that the first 359 Series lights will be available in the 18 in. bar model in summer 2014, with 12- and 6-in. slim-line models to follow.
