Continental debuts five new truck tires

Continental Tire the Americas introduced five new commercial truck tires this week at MATS.

The Conti EcoPlus HS3 steer and all-position tire offers a 10% reduction in rolling resistance and a 12% increase in mileage over the previous generation long haul steer tire, according to the tiremaker. Features include an advanced decoupler groove design and a “flap style” stone bumper system—both of which result in advanced life and retreadability, Conti added. The EcoPlus HS3 will be available to in early summer in size 295/75R22.5, load range H with 19/32nd tread depth.

The Conti Hybrid HS3, a steer and all-position tire for the combined regional and long haul segment, is available now in size 295/75R22.5 load range H.

The Conti TerraPlus HD3 is an off-road drive tire for the high traction needs of construction vehicles, work trucks and heavy commercial pickups. The first new product introduced in Continental’s 19.5-inch tire line, the TerraPlus HD3 will be available later this spring in size 225/70R19.5. The tire features a specialized, aggressive tread pattern with open shoulder, 19/32nds tread depth and an off-road belt package.

Two new bus tires also were debuted: the Conti Urban HA3 all-position and steer tire and the Conti Coach HA3.

To say that the potential for reducing fleet carbon emissions within PepsiCo’s Frito-Lay and Pepsi Beverage operations is considerable would be an understatement. In North America alone, the company owns more than 80,000 Class 1-8 assets, including on- and off-highway vehicles, trailers and material handling equipment.

“There are a number of ways we’re working to decarbonize our fleet operations,” said Adam Buttgenbach, director of fleet engineering and sustainability at PepsiCo. “Among them are optimizing delivery networks for maximum payload and reduced empty mileage. We have also been implementing scaled deployments of electric and other alternative fuel-powered vehicles.”
