The 32nd annual Shell Rotella SuperRigs competition will be held May 15-17 at the zMAX Dragway, which is part of Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, N.C., from May 15-17 for the biggest SuperRigs ever. With a theme of “Go Big,” the event will host beautiful big rigs, over $25,000 in cash and prizes, access to two races at Charlotte Motor Speedway, live concerts and much more.

Shell Rotella SuperRigs will be part of the Sprint All-Star weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Contestants in Rotella SuperRigs will be provided with one ticket to both the North Carolina Education Lottery 200 Camping World Truck Series for Friday night and the Sprint All-Star Race on Saturday night. Additional tickets will be available at a 30 percent discount for Shell Rotella SuperRigs participants. Attendees will be treated to a free concert Thursday night by Texas rock musician Phil Pritchett; debuting his recent release of Going Big – a dedication to this year’s event, as well as a free concert by country music star Jake Owen prior to the Saturday All-Star race.

The traditional Friday night SuperRigs Truck Parade will take place at Charlotte Motor Speedway prior to the Friday night truck series race. Select truckers will be chosen to take a Truck Parade lap. There will also be fireworks displays on Friday night (at zMax) and Saturday night (Charlotte Motor Speedway) immediately following the races.

“The 32nd Shell Rotella SuperRigs will bring together great looking trucks, high-powered stock car racing, lots of events and some great concerts to make this our best SuperRigs ever,” said Chris Guerrero, global brand manager, Shell Rotella. “We decided on a theme of “Go Big” and people coming to SuperRigs will see that we put together a great weekend of competition and entertainment.”

The Shell Rotella SuperRigs competition is the premier truck beauty contest for actively working trucks. Owner/operator truckers from across the United States and Canada will compete for cash and prizes valued at approximately $25,000. Twelve drivers will also be selected to have their truck featured in the 2015 Shell Rotella SuperRigscalendar.

Shell Rotella SuperRigs entrants can register on site upon arrival and enter the judging line whenever they are ready. Judging will take place between 7:30 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 15, 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 pm on Friday, May 16, and between 7:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 17. Judging takes about 20 minutes and contestants do not need to be present to win. The presentation ceremony for the awards will take place at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 17.

The truck beauty contest is free to all participants. Every entrant will receive a gift package consisting of one gallon of Shell Rotella T Triple Protection engine oil; one gallon of Shell Rotella ELC Extended Life Coolant, a MyMilesMatter Rewards card valued at 2,500 miles, and a Shell ROTELLA SuperRigs t-shirt and hat, while supplies last.

Shell Rotella SuperRigs Highlights

  • Texas rock musician Phil Pritchett will debut his new song, “Going Big,” during a SuperRigs concert on Thursday night at zMAX Dragway. The song was written to honor Shell Rotella SuperRigs and the hard working truckers that participate in the contest.
  • National Tractor Pullers Association champions Larry and Adam Koester and their Shell Rotella mini-modified tractors will attend and greet SuperRigs attendees.
  • The Rotella Road Show will be on site, allowing spectators the opportunity to participate in an interactive experience that takes them through the programs, community involvement and technology of the Shell Rotella brand.
  • Inspired by their relationship with BBQ Pitmasters on Destination America, Shell Rotella has created a custom BBQ pit. A free contestant barbeque lunch will served on Friday from the Rotella BBQ pit.
  • There will be a vendor pavilion area where a variety of vendors will give contestants an opportunity to learn more about their products and services. Food concessions will also be available throughout the event.

Trucks entered in Shell Rotella SuperRigs are judged by industry professionals who work for major trucking publications or broadcast companies. Judges score the rigs on exterior appearance, design, detail/finish, originality and workmanship. In total, 24 working trucks receive awards for categories such as Best of Show, Tractor, Tractor/Trailer Combination and Classic.
