Great Dane showcases all aluminum flatbed trailer

Great Dane provided visitors with an interactive and informative experience designed to showcase the company’s latest advances in trailer technology, performance and customer support at the 2015 Mid-America Trucking Show. Great Dane’s 2015 MATS display allowed visitors to experience the company’s latest equipment first hand, including the first public showing of the company’s all aluminum flatbed trailer—the Freedom XP—which has been redesigned from the ground up, according to the manufacturer.

Also featured was the Everest TL truckload reefer with ThermoGuard lining; a Champion CP composite plate dry van featuring bonded sidewall construction; a steel/aluminum Freedom LT combo flatbed featuring disc brakes and CorroGuard undercoating; and an Alpine sheet-and-post refrigerated truck body designed and built in cooperation with Great Dane’s subsidiary, Johnson Refrigerated Truck Bodies. Great Dane also showcased its iPad and iPhone product and branch/dealer locator apps.

“The pace of growth and innovation is continuing to accelerate in our industry as customers look for their equipment to last longer and operate even more safely and efficiently,” said Dean Engelage, Great Dane’s president. “At this year’s MATS show we look forward to demonstrating how Great Dane’s equipment and aftermarket support continues to lead the industry in providing true long-term value to fleet operators throughout the America.

Highlighted in Great Dane’s 2015 MATS booth are four of the company’s latest trailers, all featuring a range of standard features such as Accuride wheels with Steel Armor powder-coating technology; Bridgestone Ecopia low rolling resistance tires, Stemco Platinum Performance Plus wheel-end systems with six-year limited warranty, and Grote’s 100% LED lighting system with dual-intensity stop lights and a fully sealed Long-Life modular wiring harness covered by a 10-year warranty.

Great Dane’s all-aluminum Freedom XP flatbed trailer has been redesigned based on extensive review and input from Great Dane flatbed fleet customers, the company said. The trailer is rated for a 52,000-lb. load concentrated in 4-ft. It is available with low-or high-camber arches.

The 48-ft. MATS show trailer featured the XP’s optional appearance package, designed to enhance the trailer’s visual impact with features such as polished filler plates, added mud flaps and additional LED lighting. Other optional features on the show trailer include CorroGuard-treated landing gear; a Hendrickson Maxx 22 disc brake system; a single-coil hauling package; Hendrickson’s TireMaxx Pro tire inflation system; and Accurride mirror polish aluminum disc wheels.
