Oliver Rubber Co. launches PD Drive retread

Oliver Rubber Co. has announced the launch of the Oliver PD Drive, an open-shouldered, SmartWay-verified drive-position retread for line-haul and regional applications.

“The PD Drive provides a winning combination of low rolling resistance, tread life and traction in this new Oliver product,” said Philip Boarts, Oliver’s product category manager. “It delivers bottom-line fuel economy and mileage.”

Oliver’s proprietary tread compounding delivers unique properties that contribute to outstanding tread wear and very low rolling resistance, while the open shoulder delivers increased traction. Designed for single- and tandem-axle tractors, the PD Drive has 22/32nds of tread depth and is available in four sizes: 205; 215; 220; and 230. All Oliver retreads carry a national warranty to 2/32nds of tread depth.

Biodiesel consumption accelerated and feedstocks rapidly changed in 2022 as a result of an unanticipated shift in governmental policies that encouraged the consumption of biodiesel. In addition, geopolitical events limited supplies of conventional ultra-low sulfur diesel (ULSD).

Driving the consumption of these non-standard blends were governmental policies in many regions that required biodiesel consumption or encouraged it with financial incentives. In other regions, the impact of the war in Ukraine and other political instabilities constricted supplies of conventional fossil diesel.
