Kyocera unveils ruggedized smartphone for AT&T Fleet Complete

In collaboration with AT&T and Fleet Complete, Kyocera Communications Inc. unveiled the first ruggedized Android devices to support AT&T Fleet Complete, a family of GPS-based tracking and management solutions for the transportation industry. This is available on Kyocera’s DuraForce and DuraForce XD smartphones.

“Between the constant need for communication and increasingly stringent regulations for hours of service and electronic logging devices, mobile technology has become a vital tool for the transportation industry,” said Chuck Becher, vice president and general manager of sales and marketing at Kyocera Communications. “Kyocera’s rugged smartphones are an ideal, dependable platform for AT&T Fleet Complete to help companies with everything from safety, cost control and communication to efficiency and compliance.”

Features highlighted by the company include:

  • Fully ruggedized;
  • Users can choose between the DuraForce’s standard 4.5-in. display or the DuraForce XD’s extra-large 5.7-in. display;
  • Both are certified to Military Standard 810G for dust, drop, shock, vibration, temperature extremes, blowing rain, low pressure/high altitude, solar radiation, salt fog and humidity;
  • They also are certified IP68, meaning they are dustproof and can be fully submerged in water up to six feet deep for up to 30 minutes;
  • Integrated with AT&T Enhanced Push-to-Talk, which enables near real-time communication between individuals or groups.
