Estes Express Lines celebrates 85th anniversary

Estes Express Lines, the largest privately held less-than-truckload (LTL) carrier in the nation, is celebrating its 85th anniversary this month. Estes founder W.W. Estes started the company during the Great Depression with one truck, no driver’s seat and an opportunity to help local farmers transport their produce to market. Today, Estes is a full-service, coast-to-coast, North American freight transportation provider that employs more than 16,000 people and maintains a fleet of more than 32,500 tractors and trailers,with more than $2.39 billion in annual revenue.

“We firmly believe that the bonds of family make for a strong and lasting foundation for success,”said company President and Chief Executive Officer Rob Estes, part of the third generation of Estes family leaders in the company. “Being able to achieve fourth-generation participation comes from having a much larger team of dedicated Estes employees who are unwavering in their commitment to provide the best customer experience possible.”

“Estes continues to grow purposefully, while maintaining the fiscal responsibility that has served our company so well over the past 85 years,” added Estes. “The focus remains on providing superior customer service.”
