SKF Vehicle Aftermarket highlights wheel end products at HDAW

SKF Vehicle Aftermarket is providing a glimpse into its wheel end components in booth no. 1401 at Heavy Duty Aftermarket Week (HDAW) 2022. Among the products on display during this year’s show will be SKF’s line of fully loaded trailer hubs, featuring a design to reduce friction for improved rolling efficiency and higher capacity to accommodate today’s operating temperatures, the company noted.

In addition, the company will showcase the SKF Scotseal X-Treme seal, available in various dimensions for truck, bus and trailer wheel ends for driven and non-driven axles. Lastly, also on display in the SKF booth will be the SKF Aluminum Hubcap, containing the patent pending TF center-fill plug, which has an oil shield and concealed vent design. This allows the wheel end to vent without clogging, while the exterior of the hubcap remains clean with reduced oil seepage while venting.

While onsite at this year’s show, SKF is also providing distributors with a first-hand look into the value and features of the company’s recently launched SKF TraX Wheel End Monitor (WEM) with an interactive product demo. The SKF TraX WEM is a sensor unit installed at the outboard side of heavy-duty vehicle wheel rims to intelligently monitor wheel end vibration and temperature to detect potential issues such as impending bearing failures. It integrates with the telematics system to notify the driver in near real-time of needed fleet maintenance via wireless communication in advance of potential wheel end conditions that could compromise performance and safety. The SKF TraX WEM is designed to help fleet operators achieve more operational uptime while minimizing unscheduled breakdowns due to wheel-end failures.

Why fuel filtration science matters

Fleetguard shares the story of filtration science leading to a biodiesel solution with a seven-time increase in performance.

Biodiesel consumption accelerated and feedstocks rapidly changed in 2022 as a result of an unanticipated shift in governmental policies that encouraged the consumption of biodiesel. In addition, geopolitical events limited supplies of conventional ultra-low sulfur diesel (ULSD).

Driving the consumption of these non-standard blends were governmental policies in many regions that required biodiesel consumption or encouraged it with financial incentives. In other regions, the impact of the war in Ukraine and other political instabilities constricted supplies of conventional fossil diesel.
