IC Bus, ASE to sponsor students for electric truck, bus safety certification

The purpose of the standards is to provide guidance, document and establish electrical safety requirements.

The ASE Education Foundation is partnering with IC Bus to sponsor 1,000 high school students and their instructors at ASE-accredited medium/heavy truck training programs to take ASE’s xEV Electrical Safety Awareness Certification Level 1 test, the companies announced.

The foundation says it will collaborate with schools and their local IC Bus dealers to promote high-tech careers in the truck and bus field, ensure that the students receive electric vehicle (EV) safety training and deliver testing vouchers for the students in the 2023-24 school year.

Nikola Corp. reported financial results and business updates for the quarter ended March 31, 2024. In the release, the company notes continued North American interest in its hydrogen fuel cell electric trucks (FCEVs), additional hydrogen refueling stations in Canada and completed delivery of its battery electric truck (BEV).

“We continue to move forward rapidly and execute our plans. And please keep that in mind – we are in the execution phase, not the planning or 'concepting' phase,” said Steve Girsky, president and chief executive officer of Nikola. “Last quarter, I talked about getting on the field with the first deliveries of our hydrogen fuel cell electric trucks. Today, we are executing plays, competing, and cultivating more green shoots as we expand upon current markets and enter new ones.”
