Control bacterial growth in fuel systems with Fuel Quality Services

Fuel Quality Services' Kathon FP 1.5 is used to kill and control bacteria and fungal growth in any middle distillate fuel system, preventing filter plugging, MIC corrosion in steel and aluminum tanks, as well as demaged poly resins in fiberglass tanks. The product quickly kills microbes in a fuel system and functions as a preservative to prevent future growth.

Kathon FP 1.5 from Fuel Quality Services Inc. is used to kill and control bacteria and fungal growth in any middle distillate fuel system, according to the company. The product is especially needed now that biodiesel and low levels of ethanol (E-10) could be included in fuels, the maker added.

These “bugs” can cause filter plugging, MIC corrosion in steel and aluminum tanks, as well as eat the poly resins in fiberglass tanks. Kathon FP 1.5 quickly kills microbes in a fuel system and when used proactively, it functions as a preservative to prevent any future growth, the company said.

Kathon FP 1.5 offers long-term protection against contamination in the entire fuel system with a treat ratio of 1:10,000 gallons curative. FQS said it does not recommend so called “maintenance” dosing, which can lead to sub lethal usage and result in a worse situation.
