Deflecktor announced a new locking feature for its Hardspot aerodynamic wheel cover, a system that was introduced last Fall for tractors and can now be mounted to trailers. The locking feature utilizes a key that is used to lock and unlock the wheel cover and production of the locking Hardspot is currently underway.

“Fear of theft has been a buying roadblock for potential customers. A locking cover offers peace of mind for those whose trucks and trailers go unattended for extended periods of time,” said Jonathan Fleck, Deflecktor president and founder.

The trailer mounting system comes pre-assembled for initial installation. Fleck reported that ROI for the Deflecktor is seen in the 1% fuel efficiency gain on tractor positions and another 1% on the trailer position. Fleck also said that Schneider and NFI trucks are using the Hardspot wheel covers and has also be utilized on Tesla’s Class 8 heavy-duty truck.
