New York Heavy Trucking Corp. details custom Rogers trailer specs

According to New York Heavy Trucking Corp., a Long Island company that provides specialized transportation and logistics services for shipper, transport haulers in New York City and the boroughs can encounter major challenges. To combat those challenges, the company recently purchased a custom-built Rogers Brothers Corp. trailer specially designed to haul the oversized crawler dozer, cherry picker and drill rigs that the company regularly transports.

New York Heavy Trucking Corp. Owner Nick DiMarinis noted that one of the greatest challenges in the NYC area is maintaining a loaded height of 13-ft.-6-in. or lower. New York Heavy Trucking’s Rogers 105-ton capacity trailer has wheel wells for the rubber-tired cherry picker to have increased overhead clearances. A “bucket pocket” and “boom trough” give the bucket and stick of an excavator a place to nestle between the rear wheels and into the deck, said the manufacturer.

Rogers also utilized air ride suspension on all the axles—a feature they claimed as a first on a trailer of this capacity. According to the company, the air suspension allows the rear of the trailer to be raised or lowered in five height positions while fully loaded. The No Foot self-lifting gooseneck raises or lowers the front of the deck to clear railroad tracks or off-road obstructions at work sites.

Said DiMarinis, “Without the accommodations built into this trailer, we would be forced to take open air routes which would add hours to our transport time. The unique look and special features of the trailer have drawn crowds as we wait our turn to cross the George Washington Bridge. The modular design allows us to change-out the deck and Rogers is currently building additional axles that will allow us to haul a greater variety of equipment while meeting axle requirements. The savings in time and effort we have realized with the trailer have increased our profit.”
