PACCAR Parts celebrates 50 years of business

The dealership networks expanded from approximately 180 locations in 1973 to more than 2,300 locations today.

PACCAR Parts marks its 50th anniversary this year as a distributor and marketer of aftermarket products for medium- and heavy-duty trucks, trailers, buses and engines. The company’s first Parts Distribution Center (PDC) opened in 1973 in Renton, Washington.

Today, PACCAR Parts operates 18 PDCs on four continents, providing 3.4 million square feet of distribution capacity. The newest PDC in Louisville, Kentucky, started shipping in August 2022, increasing parts availability for dealers and customers in the central, mid-Atlantic and southeastern regions of the U.S. Along this same timeframe, the dealership networks expanded from approximately 180 locations in 1973 to more than 2,300 locations today.

Thermo King recently introduced the third-generation diesel TriPac Auxiliary Power Unit (APU). The newest model is designed to provide the same comfort and performance customers expect but with added enhancements to reduce emissions, monitor unit performance and increase profitability, the company stated in a recent press release.

The company says the third-generation TriPac APU is available in two different models to add flexibility and help customers meet emission regulations. One model is a 49-state Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Tier 4 compliant solution for aftermarket installations. The second model includes a new aftertreatment device (ATD) that is 50-state compliant with California Air Resource Board (CARB) and meets EPA Tier 4 compliance for new original equipment manufacturer (OEM) or aftermarket installations.
