Freightliner Custom Chassis Corp. said it continues to expand its presence within the alternative fuel walk-in van market segment by delivering 40 hydraulic hybrid power walk-in vans to UPS. FCCC said its hydraulic hybrid vehicles use hydraulic high pressure to propel the vehicle with the engine off, reducing fuel consumption by up to 40%.

Peterbilt line features next generation of PACCAR engines

Peterbilt Motors Co. announced the availability of the next generation of PACCAR engines: the PACCAR MX-13, PACCAR PX-9 and PACCAR PX-7, which are designed to maximize fuel efficiency and reliability, and provide a low total cost of ownership. The engine lineup will be available in Peterbilt’s complete range of medium- and heavy-duty products beginning in 2013.

$125,000 2012 tax deduction available for work truck purchases

The Internal Revenue Code Title 26, Section 179 allows a maximum deduction of $125,000 for the cost of certain capital machinery and equipment, including commercial work trucks, for tax years starting in 2012. The deduction is currently set to revert to $25,000 for tax years starting in 2013.
