Thermo King Precedent S-Series lineup expands

Thermo King, a manufacturer of transport temperature control systems for a variety of mobile applications and a brand of Ingersoll Rand, enhanced its S-600M model of the Precedent S-Series line. The enhancement allows trucks to ship products with multi-temp capabilities utilizing all trailer space while saving time and resources. This allows peace of mind for refrigerated trailer fleet operators and owner operators who want to remain compliant without sacrificing performance or efficiency, added the company.

Thermo King Within this platform, the Precedent S-600M meets a variety of the trucking industry’s refrigeration demands with its strong pull-down and two-speed evaporator operation for exceptional airflow while hauling perishable goods.

“As the new emissions regulations have come into effect we have made a leap forward with S-600,” said Carl Breczinski, product manager for multi-temp trailers at Thermo King. “The S-600 allows fleets to transport products with different temp requirements while realizing substantial fuel savings and not having to worry about long-term emissions compliance.”

Many companies, such as United Natural Foods Inc. (UNFI) with brands Albert’s Organics and Tony’s Fine Foods have chosen the Precedent trailer refrigeration unit platform.

“As environmental regulations pressured manufacturers to improve emission outputs, Thermo King did not cut corners or offer a Band-Aid fix. They did it right by launching the Precedent technology,” said Jeff Wismans, national director of transportation, UNFI. “Simply put the Precedent S-600M burns less fuel and is less polluting with 90% reduction in particulate matter and 37% reduction in NOx.”

As the industry’s most sustainable trailer temperature control platform, Precedent delivers double-digit fuel savings, best-in-class performance and lower life cycle costs while providing regulatory compliance, said Thermo King.

FlowBelow Aero, Inc., has introduced its new AeroFender, a device that is equipped to truck wheels and reduces drag on day- and sleeper-cabs. FlowBelow tells us that the AeroFender improves fuel efficiency by re-directing the airflow ahead of and around a power unit’s leading drive axle.

At a controlled track test completed in November 2023 by Mesilla Valley Transportation Solutions, FlowBelow says its technology was proven to save 1.49 gallons of fuel for every 1,000 miles driven, or 1.44% overall. The company says that fleets can expect a truck equipped with an AeroFender and traveling 125,000 miles per year to save an estimated 187 gallons of fuel and approximately 4,207.5 lbs. of CO2.
