Gary King Memorial Trophy awarded to Freightliner Team Run Smart member

Freightliner Trucks announced that Team Run Smart Pro Henry Albert received the Gary King Memorial Trophy for his three year work with the Trucker Buddy International program.

The Gary King Memorial Trophy, awarded for outstanding representation of Trucker Buddy International, is named after the founder of the organization. Since 1992, the independent, non-profit group has been dedicated to helping educate and mentor school children through a pen pal relationship program with professional truck drivers.

Through Albert’s work with a second grade class in Manheim, Penn., he has helped to educate future generations on the trucking profession, explained the impact it has on the students’ lives and emphasized the importance of excellence in the classroom.

Randy Schwartzenburg, executive director of Trucker Buddy International, said Albert was recognized as “a stellar example of the superior and caring drivers who make the time to visit, teach and correspond with thousands of students throughout the year.”

“It’s not about me or winning awards. It’s about showing children aspects of the trucking industry and the positive things that come out of it,” Albert said. “It was really unexpected and an honor, especially being presented the award by Paul Abelson, one of the best people in the industry.”

Based out of Statesville, N.C., Albert is the owner of Albert Transport Inc. and driver of a Freightliner Cascadia Evolution truck equipped with a Detroit DD15 engine.
