Arbor Solution adds to lineup of transportation box PCs

Arbor Solution added to its lineup of transportation box PCs with the introduction of model ARTS-1450.

The in-vehicle unit offers a compact design along with high performance, stability and rich expansion capabilities through a multitude of I/O connections, according to Arbor Solutions. The unit also provides real-time, two-way data and voice communications and an Intel Atom quad-core E3845 SoC, 1.91GHz processor.

“Its fanless, robust design provides a high degree of stability, allowing it to withstand the shock and vibration associated with fleet vehicles constantly on the go. This versatile unit is suitable for a wide variety of applications in government and commercial fleets. The product is well suited for installation in buses, on trains, and in a wide variety of truck fleets,” said Brian Yurkiw, Arbor Solution vice president.

The Arbor Solution ARTS-1450 comes with extensive I/O, supporting a wide variety of applications and peripherals, according to the company. Standard I/O includes: two each RS232 and RS-232/485 serial ports with DB-9 connectors; one type-A USB 3.0 and two type-A USB 2.0 ports; one RJ-45 gigabit Ethernet LAN port; one DVI-D female connector and one DB15 VGA connector; five SMA female-connector holes for external antennas; extensive digital I/O (1×8 bit digital I/O, and audio—line-out and mic-in).

According to Arbor Solutions, externally-accessible SIM sockets connected to dual WWAN modules support seamless switching between different carriers and offer potential cost savings, improved effective coverage and more extensive bandwidth, which is particularly useful for long haul trucking.

Two mini-PCIe sockets provide HSUPA and LTE communications. The third mini-PCIe socket provides WiFi and Bluetooth communications.

The ARTS-1450 can also be applied for vehicle safety control and surveillance, the company said. With the optional embedded CAN BUS 2.0B interface, data from the vehicle—such as temperature, fluid levels and tire pressure, engine speed—can be collected and acted upon. Via 3G/4G, the unit can provide continuous real-time communication between drivers and a control or dispatch center. This allows managers to monitor vehicle status.

Arbor Solution ARTS-1450 also features:

  • Compact size: 7.9-in. x 7.1-in.;
  • Lightweight: 3.3 lbs.;
  • Wide-operating temperature: -40°F to 158°F;
  • Compliant with MIL-STD-810G for drop and vibration protection
