Double Coin RLB450 tire receives EPA SmartWay verification

The Double Coin RLB450 drive position tire has met the requirements for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) SmartWay Technology Program.

The EPA has verified that the RLB450 has met the low-rolling resistance tire performance criteria for new tires being used in the drive position on a line-haul Class 8 tractor trailer. Since 2004, EPA’s SmartWay Technology Program tests and verifies the performance of vehicles, technologies and equipment that have the potential to lower greenhouse gases and other air pollutants from freight transport. The RLB450 (pictured above) is one of seven Double Coin tires that are SmartWay certified.

“Double Coin’s ultra premium RLB450 is a regional/long-haul drive-position tire designed to deliver superior traction in all weather conditions. The RLB450 meets today’s transportation requirements and joins six other Double Coin fuel efficient models in our product line,” said Teresa Galvan, CMA/Double Coin’s director of customer service. “We are very pleased to have our premium products recognized by the EPA for our low rolling resistance technology. Our customers can be assured that using any of our low-rolling resistance tires will assist them in reducing emissions and increasing fuel mileage.”
