Meritor reveals FastSet King Pin Kit, PlatinumShield III brake shoe coating

Meritor launched the Meritor FastSet King Pin Kit to support market demand for a quicker solution to aftermarket king pin replacement. According to the company, the new kit eliminates the need for reamers, special tools and presses. With the kit, king pin bushings do not need to be reamed after they are installed into the steering knuckle, which saves labor, time and equipment costs. And instead of pressing in the bushings during installation, customers can use the kit to easily install spiral bushings by hand. Additionally, the king pin’s special groove pattern design allows grease to permeate high-wear areas.

The company also launched PlatinumShield III coating for aftermarket customers purchasing new and remanufactured Meritor brake shoes.

“PlatinumShield was a game-changer when it was introduced in 2009 to extend brake shoe life, and this second improvement in the product offers a new benchmark in coating adherence,” said Aaron Bickford, Meritor’s director of brake and wheel end aftermarket. “PlatinumShield III takes the technology even further by offering a considerable increase in durability and maintenance savings.”

Other announcements made by Meritor include the extension of the “Shoes for Soldiers” program. For more information, visit its website.
