PACCAR has announced the launch of a new proprietary tandem axle. The new PACCAR axle is designed to improve the operating efficiency for linehaul, regional haul and pick-up and delivery customers. The new axle is rated at 40,000 lbs., supporting a gross combination weight of 80,000 lbs. Kenworth and Peterbilt will begin offering the axle to customers in January. The axles are designed to work with the PACCAR MX line of engines.

The PACCAR axle features a unique pinion-through-shaft design that simplifies power flow in the axle for maximum efficiency. The PACCAR axle also incorporates a laser-welded carrier design that reduces weight and improves fuel economy. The axle comes with a warranty of five years or 750,000 miles.

The PACCAR axle offers ratios from 2.47 to 3.70 with engine torque compatibility up to 1,650 ft./lb. and multi-torque rating compatibility up to 1,750 ft./lb.
