Prestolite Electric introduces IdlePro Extreme heavy-duty alternator

IPX-12v-420Amp-Alternator

Prestolite Electric highlights the IdlePro Extreme 12V, 420-amp heavy-duty alternator from Leece-Neville Heavy Duty Systems. The company says that alternator is capable of meeting demanding voltage requirements under extreme conditions and is specifically optimized for fire truck applications.

“Emergency response vehicle operators need to be confident that their vehicle will perform reliably at any moment, under virtually any condition, and often running at idle,” said Jonathan Smith, assistant director of aftermarket sales and marketing for Prestolite. “Our new 420-amp model is achieving particularly high levels of performance in pumper truck applications, where unusually high electrical draws are the norm.”

Features of the IdlePro Extreme 12V, 420-Amp Alternator, according to the company, include the following:

  • A built-in Remove Sense feature reduces battery charge time and returns the battery to a full charge between vehicle stops;
  • Isolated Ground Technology reduces stray voltage and electrical noise, helping to protect the engine;
  • Operates at 76% efficiency and offer a minimum of 90% of their rated maximum output at engine idle speed;
  • Brushless design helps to reduce weight and size;
  • Isolated Ground Technology reduces stray voltage and electrical noise, helping to protect the engine;
  • Auxiliary Draft Cooling design allows for cooler running temperatures;
  • Dual cable terminals provide extend coverage and convenience;
  • Heavy-duty eCoat helps protect against corrosion;
  • Covered by a three-year, 350,000-mile warranty.
