Mack Trucks has introduced dynamic maintenance, a data-driven solution that aims to helps fleets better plan their truck service. Dynamic maintenance is offered in partnership with Noregon, and uses data collected from Mack’s GuardDog Connect telematics.
According to Mack, dynamic maintenance leverages data intelligence from vehicle data analytics, combined with enhanced software features from GuardDog Connect, the Noregon platform, and Mack’s ASIST service communications process to more accurately reflect planned maintenance needs and replace traditional ‘set mileage scheduled’ plans.
The OEM says this service will allow fleets to be more proactive about their maintenance.
“We’re providing the data we collect on a consultative basis to our customers,” explained Roy Horton, Mack Trucks director of product strategy. “For example, if you have maintenance that’s required every 30,000 miles, it could be that you could wait for that maintenance further down the road. These are the types of things that we will be rolling out with dynamic maintenance.”
Additionally, Mack has also announced a forthcoming analytics service that will be used to consult fleets on their trucks’ performance using some of that same data, such as idle time average and fuel economy.
The service will also compare the fleet’s performance to those of fleets in similar duty-cycles and applications (though without revealing any competitive fleet data).
“It helps us have a consultative conversation with our customers to optimize performance and gain the most value out of their fleet,” Horton said.
