What else can you improve when upgrading your infrastructure for EV charging?

Think about it: You’re about to make a very sizable monetary investment to make a very sizable hole in the ground to bring the power you need to your fleet’s yard to charge up your shiny new electric trucks. Add “digging up your property to put in utility lines” to the list of things you only want to do once. But if you’re going to do it, what other upgrades should you consider?

A fiber upgrade could be on the list given: 1. every business depends on stable Internet connection, and more bandwidth is always better, and 2. data and EV charging is interlinked thanks to charging management software. Ensuring a constant, stable fiber internet connection could make all the difference when it comes to your EV charging bottom line.

But you don’t have to take my word for it. David Sickels, editor of FE sister publication The Buzz, and I sat down with Lew Cox, director of business development, MD7, to talk about the benefits of bundling in utility builds. Watch the video above for all of his insight.

How many LED lights can be out to consider a trailer light out-of-service?

Even one is too many for safety minded fleets who like to keep their trailers rolling productively.

The headline is a question that's on a TMC taskforce docket, and one that Al Anderson, vice president of sales and marketing at Peterson Mfg. Co., has a keen interest in.

"We haven't finished the recommended practice yet, but we're trending towards some percentage of LEDs being out before it's not legal anymore, which therefore [means] it's not safe anymore," he said, standing inside the Peterson Mfg. Co. show trailer at this year's TMC show held in New Orleans. "Keeping trailer lights lit is vital to uptime because you're not going to get a violation, you're not going to get an infraction, you're not going to be put out of service by CVSA. It is just very critical to keep everything illuminated like it should."
