Five truck trend takeaways from September

September was a busy month for the FE Team as we worked to cover all the latest and greatest the heavy-duty industry has to offer. From OEM offerings to seasonal maintenance to electrification to data integration, we were constantly on the ball capturing the stories you want to read. With so much going on, you may have missed some of our top content, so before we officially transition into spooky season, check out some of the fan favorites of the month of September.

5. Mack of all trades

While pictures can only capture a fraction of the Mack Command Steer capabilities, we threw together a photo gallery of the Mack Granite and Mack Anthem tackling the rough terrain of Easton Quarry. Take a closer look at just how well it works in a quarry-centric setting. Buckle in and prepare for a not so bumpy (thanks Mack!) ride.

4. Paper to productivity

Write this down: Paper is OUT. In today’s climate and with the ever-growing expectations of your customers, the days of traditional documented management should be behind you. Through the growing capabilities and continued integration of technology into the industry, what was once done in a matter of days with stacks of papers and fax machines can now be done instantaneously through dashboards and data sets. Find out how Samsara guides its heavy-duty customers to increased efficiency and productivity.

3. (S)now stopping your trucks

The season of frigid temperatures and endless snowfall is upon us. Are you prepared?

In this new On The Road, David faces the hard truth: The cold weather is on the way. But before the temperature drops and the last leaves fall, there are a couple of things you should do to prepare. Besides rounding up your coats and boots, your trucks might need some seasonal attention too. Take a look at three fleet maintenance checks that should be performed as your trucks roll into the winter season.

2. Electrification charging forward

We’ve heard it all before – the infrastructure is lagging, the range isn’t substantial, it’s too expensive. The concerns with EVs are justified, however, electric trucks aren’t just a fleeting trend and as the infrastructure grows, businesses continue looking for ways of integrating them into their fleets. While you’re at it, have you considered bundling in other utility builds? If not, find out why you should in this Amped podcast.

1. Medium-duty, high performance

The updated M2 and SD Plus Series from Freightliner has taken it’s medium-duty and vocational lineup to the next level by enhancing the interior design. With improved ergonomics and increased storage space, the trucks provides not just a more comfortable ride for drivers, but also a safer driving experience.
