Fontaine Modification offers dual drive conversion for Peterbilt medium-duty trucks

The modification is available for Peterbilt models 535, 536, 537 and 548.

Fontaine Modification has introduced its sit-down dual drive (SDDD) modification for Peterbilt’s new medium-duty conventional truck lineup. The “Peterbilt Premium Sit-Down Dual Drive” modification is available for Peterbilt models 535, 536, 537 and 548.

SDDD steering conversions add a right-hand drive station to the cab, enabling drivers to operate vocational vehicles from either the right or left side. This is important in applications where it may be preferable for the driver to operate curbside, like refuse collection, street sweeping and road striping, the company says. Fontaine has provided an SDDD modification for the Peterbilt Model 220 cab-over-engine truck at its Garland, Texas, modification center since 2015.

Fontaine says its new “Premium Dual Drive” modification is engineered to make the right-hand driving position virtually identical to the OEM left-side position so drivers can operate with equal comfort and efficiency no matter where they are sitting. This modification is performed at the Fontaine facility in Chillicothe, Ohio.
